On April 27, 2015, the Third Session Standing Committee conference of the First Vacuum Insulated Glass Professional Committee of China Architectural and Industrial Glass Association was held in Tianjin.
At the beginning of the conference, Mr. Baiheng Zhang, the Executive Vice President and Secretary General of the association made a speech. He first affirmed the development of vacuum insulated glass driven by the Committee’s work in 2014, especially the establishment of the Standard of Glass for Transparent Parts of a Passive House. Mr. Baiheng Zhang pointed out that vacuum insulated glass features remarkable building energy saving effect and long product life. As such, the prospect of the product development and its market rigid demand are relatively optimistic. 
However, vacuum insulated glass involves various subject areas and is one of the most sophisticated products in the existing glass processing. At present, there are still many factors, both intrinsic or objective factors that restrict the industrialization of vacuum insulated glass. In this regard, Mr. Zhang said that “To forge iron, you need a strong hammer”, requiring the product development to focus on industrialization, improvement of process and technology, and product safety. For that purpose, it is critical to strengthen technological innovation and control product cost. It is expected that the Vacuum Insulated Glass Professional Committee, under the leadership of the Standing Committee, will make full use of the industry association platform, guide the university-industry cooperation, promote collaboration between enterprises on technology and market, especially seize the opportunity of “Passive House” development to improve product quality and expand production.
